CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Commandant of the Marine Corps paid a visit to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion this week to observe live training with the Corps’ newest amphibious platform—the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV). The visit marks a significant milestone in the ongoing transition from the legacy AAVP7A1 to the modernized ACV, a key shift in the Corps’ amphibious capabilities.
The Amphibious Combat Vehicle is the Marine Corps’ next-generation ship-to-shore transport, designed to operate seamlessly between land and sea.
During his visit, he spoke directly with Marines about the future of amphibious operations and emphasized the importance of adaptability during this period of modernization.
In a moment that highlighted the Corps’ dedication to recognizing exceptional performance, the Commandant promoted two Marines during his visit. Lance Corporal Akers was meritoriously promoted to Corporal, and Corporal White was pinned with the rank of Sergeant. Both Marines were recognized for their leadership, performance, and commitment during the duration of their course.
2D AA BN continues to lead the charge in integrating the ACV into the Fleet Marine Force, ensuring the next generation of amphibious warriors is prepared for the evolving battlefield.
